Other Artists
Here I will feature work done by other artists I am inspired by and admire. As always, click on the image.
The murals of José María Sert (1876-1945) at the Cathedral of Vich were practically obliterated in a suspicious fire that engulfed the building during the Spanish Civil War. The artist then undertook to rework and renew these murals, thus giving us a unique opportunity to trace his developing style. A rare volume from 1948 gives us the information we need to do just that.
MONTROUGE. Here are some of the artists seen at the 54th Salon of Contemporary Art, Spring, 2009. The show was held this year at the newly vacant Areva factory in Montrouge. There were many types of pieces shown, including conceptual pieces, videos, walk-in environments and installations. I enjoy seeing these, but I am always drawn to the art that fits neatly into the customary categories of painting and sculpture. What’s more, these are the objects that it easiest to photograph and represent here on the computer screen. Thus, you’ll see here a series of paintings and sculptures, even though the show consisted of much more. So, my apologies to the artists that I haven’t mentioned here.
A page dedicated to a great legendary figure of the arts of the Twentieth Century, Rudolph Valentino. His story, beginning in a small town of Southern Italy, and on through emigration, to international film stardom is inspiring and thrilling. And short. He died at the age of 31 from complications after surgery.
